Following on from the 2018 University and College Union strike (the largest in UK higher education history), the activist group Precarious at Kent was born.

In 2019, Precarious at Kent was awarded a grant to curate The Temporary Centre for Resistance, a 3-month residency and collaborative practice-as-art exhibition at Studio 3 Gallery, in Canterbury. The purpose of the exhibition was to provide a space at the University of Kent for staff and student workers to imagine together what higher education could look like without precarity and without exploitation.

We organised and hosted over 300 workshops, lectures, screenings, readings, classes, installments, and performances on the subject of precarity and resistance over the residency (17 Jan.-31 March).
